Chicago travelers are being told to keep their passports in their vehicles

Travelers who want to visit the United States can now book their flights using their passports instead of cash, according to a recent guidance from the Department of Homeland Security.

The announcement is part of the department’s effort to crack down on visa fraud, a growing problem as airlines continue to ramp up their use of credit cards and travelers switch to online travel.

The Homeland Security announcement Friday comes as the Trump administration is expected to make changes to how travelers can renew their passports.
