Canadians who are traveling to the United States are being warned not to enter the country if they are in Canada due to a travel ban that was imposed by the Trump administration on Thursday.
In an update posted on the official Canadian government website, the department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAT) said that the ban applies to people who have already crossed the border or have traveled to the U.S. for at least one year.
That means that anyone entering Canada for a few weeks or months is unlikely to be able to cross the border again.
The department also said it is encouraging Canadian citizens who are in the U .
S. to apply for visas.
Those with valid visas can enter Canada with a valid passport and stay in the country, it said.
