‘Tallahassee-area’ cruise ship goes missing

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.

— The Tallahassey-area cruise ship, The Tallahoassee, has gone missing, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Monday.

The ship is headed for Florida, where authorities have launched an investigation into the disappearance of a popular vacation spot.

A spokesperson with the Tallahasse County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Monday that a person who is not identified in the news release did not give the identity of the person who went missing.

The Tallahasees search and rescue team found the cruise ship’s captain’s body Sunday morning, the department said.

The Tallhassees were alerted to the death by a member of the public.

The captain was pronounced dead on the scene, the agency said.

The cruise ship departed Tallahashan, Florida, last weekend.
